4th International Ice Sculpture Festival in Poznan - December 2009

Several hours of long combat between twelve groups of professional sculptors from all over the world were observed in the Poznan Old Market Square by over 8,000 inhabitants of the city. When the works were finished and beautifully illuminated, the inhabitants chose the most beautiful one. The main prize went to the sculpture "Peace", created by a team from the United States including Aaron Costic and T.J. Grubisha. To voters' delight, the second prize went to our countrymen - Jędrzej Jankowski and Krzysztof Gac. The Poles presented one of cartoon heroes - Spiderman. Two Canadians, Suguru Kanbayashi and Kevin Ashe who presented a Santa Claus with presents on a Harley, came third. The winners received prizes of 1500, 1000 and 500 Euros, respectively, for the extraordinary effort they put into their works.

The inhabitants of Poznan actively encouraged the artists during the whole competition. It was freezing and the place was crowded, but the atmosphere of the event stimulated both the audience and the participants of this unique ice sculpture festival in Poland. And in the evening, Ray Wilson's concert additionally warmed up the audience - the artist played his biggest hits especially for the inhabitants of Poznan.
