2007 Ice Sculpture Festival

Artists from Canada, Mexico, France, Ukraine, Russia and Poland participated in the 2nd Ice Sculpture Festival. Nine teams took part in the festival. A French and Polish team, including Samuel Girault and Robert Burkat, took first place in the competition.

Competing artists created Christmas and winter sculptures of several metres height on specially prepared platforms. Every two-man team had seven ice blocks (1 m x 0.5 m x 0.25 m) at their disposal. The inhabitants of Poznan could see how fascinating the process of creating an ice sculpture is, and the tools used by the artists, such as saws and irons, inspire astonishment as they are wielded to conjure up amazing, elaborate figures.
