As part of Erasmus+ programme students can apply to study and practice in other countries participating in the programme. At each of the three levels of study students may go abroad for a period of up to 12 months in total. The minimum time of study abroad is 3 months and the length of a traineeship is 2 months. The total number of months for each level of study includes earlier Erasmus scholarships ("Life-long learning"). A new development in Erasmus+ programme is that new graduates can also go abroad to study or for a traineeship, provided that such a scholarship takes place within one year from the graduation and its duration is included in the total duration of mobility at the level of study at which a student was qualified for the scholarship. The recruitment takes place in the last year of studies.

In order to take part in Erasmus+ programme a student must study at a higher education institution which participates in the programme, that  has been awarded the Erasmus Charter for Higher Education by the European Committee and carries out student exchange in a given academic year;
