Jaroslav Rudiš (Czech Republic) 13-14.06.2016

Adam Mickiewicz University in Poznań and the City of Poznań, invite to open lectures which will be given by Jaroslav Rudiš. The first lecture will take place on 13 June 2016 (Monday), at 6:00 PM, in Biblioteka Raczyńskich, pl. Wolności 19, room no. 1 (moderator: dr Agata Firlej). The second lecture will take place on 14 June 2016 (Tuesday), at 10: 30 AM, in the Institute of Slavic Philology at Adam Mickiewicz University (moderator: prof. Anna Gawarecka). The meetings will be interpreted into Polish.

Jaroslav Rudiš is a Czech writer, journalist, script writer and comic book author. He studied German philology in Prague, as well as in Liberec and Zurych. In the years 2001-2002, he was staying on scholarship in Berlin. He debuted in 2002 with his novel Nebe pod Berlínem (Polish title: Niebo pod Berlinem (English title: The Heavens under Berlin), Prószyński i S-ka, 2007). He is also known as a playwright and author of radio plays; his theatre plays were shown in the Czech Republic and abroad (Germany, Finland). His comic book trilogy Alois Nebel was adapted into full-length movie of Tomáš Luňák, which won, among others, the European Movie Award. In 2014 he received a prestigious literary prize Magnesia Litera for his novel Národní Třída.

Then other novels were published: Grandhotel (2006, Polish edition: Książkowe Klimaty, 2013), Potichu (2007, English title: Cisza w Pradze (Eng. Silence in Prague), Książkowe Klimaty, 2014) and Konec punku v Helsinkách (2010, Polish title: Koniec Punku w Helsinkach (English title: End of Punk in Helsinki), Książkowe Klimaty 2013). He is also known as a playwright and an author of radio plays; his theatre plays were shown in the Czech Republic and abroad (Germany, Finland). Together with graphic artist Jaromír 99 he created Alois Nebel - a railwayman of the Czech-Polish-German borderland whose readers have an opportunity to get to know through a graphic novel (Alois Nebel, Zin Zin Press, 2007) and a cycle of comics published in the press. Director Tomáš Luňák made a feature movie based on the scenario of Jaroslav Rudiš and Jaromír 99 entitled Alois Nebel (2011). Co-founder of Kafka Band.
