4th Chop (IN) POZnań & Wielkopolska concert - performing Jan Krzysztof Broja

On November 16th, 2018, 6 pm, in the White Room, Poznań City Hall, 17 Kolegiacki Square, the 4th Chop (IN) Poznań & Wielkopolska concert will be held by the City Developpment and Foreign Relations Department of the Poznań City Hall, the Musical Theater in Poznań and the Polish Radio Chopin. The concert, as part also of the Festival of the Polish Radio Chopin, will be broadcasted live.

The objective of the cycle "Chop (IN) POZnań & Wielkopolska" is to promote knowledge about the life and work of Frédéric Chopin and to highlight his relations with Poznań and the region of Wielkopolska, as well as to promote the creation of Chopin among the international public residing permanently or temporarily in Poznań and in Wielkopolska, especially among foreign students.

We are awaiting the performance of one of the most outstanding young pianists, Jan Krzysztof Broja. He studied at the Dr. Hochs Konservatorium in Frankfurt, in Hannover, at The Fryderyk Chopin University of Music in Warsaw, from which he graduated, with distinction, in 1998. He is the winner of numerous awards at national and international competitions -in Hanau, Brunswick, Bucarest, Vilnius and Passadena, California. He also took part in festivals in Bratislava, Moscow, Belfast and Bucaramanga in Columbia.

Jan Krzysztof Broja gave concerts in Poland with Sinfonia Varsovią, the National Philharmonic Orchestra in Warsaw, the Podlasie Philharmonic Orchestra, the Lublin Philharmonic Orchestra, the Szczecin Philharmonic Orchestra and the Baltic Philharmonic Orchestra. He also gave concerts in Ukraine, with the National Symphonic Orchestra of Ukraine, in Lithuania, Slovakia, Russia, with the Tchaikovsky Moscow State Conservatory Symphonic Orchestra and the National Philharmonic Orchestra of Russia, in Montenegro, Belgium and the South American countries, for example the Bahia Symphony Orchestra in Brasil, in the United States with the Passadena Symphony Orchestra and in Japan.

The pianist's record achievements include recordings for the radio and television stations in Poland, Germany, Spain, France, Russia, Japan, the United States and Columbia. The CD with compositions by Karol Szymanowski, published by the NAXOS company, on which the pianist plays the Symphony No. 4 (Symphonie concertante) op. 60, with the Warsaw Philharmonic Symphony Orchestra conducted by maestro Antoni Wit, was on the Editor's Choice list of the "ClassicsToday" music portal in May 2009, it also received a nomation for the "Grammy 2010" and the Polish music industry awards "Fryderyk 2010". In 2009, as part of the jubilee series "Chopin w oryginalnym brzmieniu" of the Fryderyk Chopin Institute, a CD was released, on which Jan Krzysztof Boroja together with Andrzej Bauer (on the cello) and Jakub Jakowicz (on the violin) plays the chamber music pieces by Frédéric Chopin. The artist took also part in the production of the film The Pianist, by Roman Polański and in the recording of the soundtrack for the film Tatarak by Andrzej Wajda (2009).

Since 2004 Jan Krzysztof Broja lives in Spain. In the years 2004-2007 he was a professor at the Conservatorio Superior de Música in Salamanca. He is invited to sit on the jury of international piano competitions, he also gives master classes, for example in Bucaramanga, Columbia (2004).
