News Literacy Summer Institute in Poznań

10th of July is the first day of the third edition of News Literacy Summer Institute in Poznań held at the Faculty of Political Science and Journalism of Adam Mickiewicz University in Poznan. 15 educators from countries such as: Armenia, Belarus, Georgia, Kazakhstan, Macedonia, Moldova, Serbia and Ukraine will learn how to be a critical media consumer and guard against manipulation.

The News Literacy Center at the Faculty of Political Science and Journalism AMU (headed by the Vice-Rector of AMU prof. Tadeusz Wallas) popularizes the American program mainly in the Caucasus, Eastern Europe and Central Asia. The Summer Institute is the effect of long-term cooperation between Faculty of Political Sciences and Journalism and News Literacy Center at Stony Brook University (New York, USA).

The first introductory classes about News Literacy will be led by Richard Hornik (lecturer at Stony Brook University and Director of Overseas Partnerships of its Center for News Literacy) - right after the official inauguration, which takes place on Monday 10.07 at 10:00. In the next days, participants will also be able to take part in classes taught by Professor Dorota Piontek (AMU). Agnieszka Filipiak, Eliza Kania and Rafał Wiśniewski are co-organizers of the project, also AMU's Transatlantic Mobility Office (represented by Jeroen van Den Bosch) takes a part in event organization.
