Born in 1941, professor Augusto Sarmiento is a priest and a professor of moral theology, whose main field of interest is the concept of marriage and family, especially the ethics of matrimony. His whole academic life is associated with the University of Navarra in Pampeluna (Spain). He was the deputy dean of the local Faculty of Theology. Pope Benedict XVI has appointed him as a consultor to the Papal Council for family matters. He also performed the functions of the consultor to the subcommittee for family matters and life defense of the Conference of the Spanish Episcopate. He published numerous scholar articles and monographs on the subject of marriage and family, two of which recently appeared and dealt with the issues included in the exhortation of Pope Francis "Amoris laetitia". His book "Christian Marriage", published in Krakow in 2002 by the publishing house "M" appeared in Polish.
During his stay in Poznań, prof. Sarmiento will deliver another lecture during a conference organized by the Faculty of Theology of Adam Mickiewicz University, titled: "Love-Marriage-Parenting. Humanae vitae: exalted theory or real help?". The lecture, titled "The encyclic of Pope Paul VI Humanae vitae, as a prophetic document" will be held on May 5th 2018, at 10am in Pavilon 15 of the International Fair in Poznan, ulica Głogowska 14.
