Open lecture by prof. Patrick Zuk
Profesor Zuk is an Associate Professor of Music Department at Durham University (Great Britain). He is an author of publications about Russian and Soviet music that were published in international scientific journals, for example Oxford University Press, The Journal of Musicology (USA), Music and Letters (UK). Moreover, professor Zuk is an editor of monographic series connected with irish music, published in cooperation with University of Notre Dame, USA and research grants beneficiary, for example with Arts and Humanities Research Council of Great Britain, British Academy. Currently he works on a project focussing on the role played by traumatic experience in shaping modernist styles and aesthetics in music of the earlier twentieth century. This grant was awarded from the Wellcome Trust.

The interests and researches of Professor Zuk, oscillating around the Russian and Soviet composers' work, and the authors of socialist realism in East-Central Europe, are focused on trauma issue that arises from historical, political, social and psychological conditions and its artistic consequence that is compositional creativity. It is an invariably alive, interesting and close subject.
