Politics in a World of Inequality - IPSA World Congress of Political Science

2,800 scientists from 99 countries will arrive in Poznań for the 24th IPSA World Congress of Political Science. The event will be held on 23-28 July 2016 at the Adam Mickiewicz University in Poznań and the Poznań International Fair (MTP).

This time, the political scientists will meet to discuss the leading theme of the Congress: "Politics in a World of Inequality". It means that the scope of discussed issues will be extensive, ranging from Brexit and the migration crisis, through the presidential campaign in the United States, ending human rights and the cyber space.

"During the IPSA World Congress, the main task of our attendees will be to better understand our ever fast-changing world, and in particular to analyse the new forms of inequality that are emerging in the twenty-first century. To achieve that, the political scientist fit for this age must be a sociologist, an anthropologist, a mathematician, and a diplomat all at the same time. This is why multidisciplinarity must be the applicable principle of proceeding,' says Guy Lachapelle, Secretary General of IPSA and a Professor of Political Science at the Concordia University.

Joseph Stiglitz (Nobel Prize Laureate in Economic Sciences in 2001) will do a video presentation: "Inequality: A Problem of Politics in the 21st century'

Peter Anyang' Nyong'o (Senator at the Parliament in Kenya) - Presentation: When Democracy Fails Twice: Can Losers Accept the Victors as Legitimate'

Richard Wilkinson (co-author of The Spirit Level) - Presentation: "Inequality: The Enemy Between Us'
