Currently, Ukrainians are the biggest group of foreign students in Poland: over 34,000 young people representing more than half of all foreign students in our country. Only a few years ago the first choice to study for young Ukrainians was Warsaw and Krakow, or cities located close to the eastern border. This situation has changed: they started to consider Poznan as an interesting place to study as well. This year in Poznań, people from Ukraine constitute the largest group of foreigners: 41 thousand people, including approx. 2,000 students.

The visit of the Poznań delegation in Kharkov and Kyiv was aimed at increasing the recognition of Poznań as an academic center and providing information on specific universities in Poznań, as well as - in the case of Kharkiv - developing other areas of cooperation in the field of education.

In Kharkiv, which is Poznań's twin city since 1998, the delegation from Poznań took part in two meetings with young Ukrainians co-organized by the National Academic Exchange Agency: at the Kharkiv National Economic University and at the Kharkiv National University of Wasyl Karazin. Several Polish organizations that are very active in Kharkiv took part in these meetings as well. They stress on how important is to maintain a strong relationship with Poland. - Our Polonia youth wants to participate in educational projects, wants to visit Poland, but also to host Polish youth in Kharkiv. Cooperation in the field of education is very important to us in both directions - said Diana Kravchenko representing the organization "Polonia Kharkiv".

The participation of Poznań in the Kyiv fair includes the promotion of the city by 10 Poznań institutions on the dedicated stand "Study in Poznań" and meetings with young people in the town of Obukhiv.

Poznań was represented in the following composition:
