The Centennial Anniversary of diplomatic relations between Poland and Japan

On the occasion of 100 anniversary of diplomatic relations between Poland and Japan, the University of the Arts in Poznan and the City of Poznan invite you to the two open lectures by professors Akiko Kasuya and Akira Tatehata.

The first open lecture given by professor Akiko Kasuya and co-organised by Paweł Pachciarek, entitled "Between aesthetics and critical". The lecture will be held on 29 May 2019, at 5.00 PM in the Atrium of the University of Arts, building B, at 20 23 Lutego Street.

Professor Akiko Kasuya was a curator in the National Art Museum of Osaka (Japan) in 1991 - 2008. At present she works as the professor at the oldest university of art in Japan - Kyoto City University of Art. In 1989 - 1991, she studies aesthetics at the Jagiellonian University of Krakow and received a PhD degree at the Kyoto University. Professor Akiko Kasuyi focuses on Polish art and aesthetic concept based on Ingarden's phenomenology, while her key successes include promotion of the Polish art in Japan.

The second open lecture given by professor Akira Tatehata and co-organised by Paweł Pachciarek, entitled "Japanese characteristics in contemporary art". The lecture will be held on 30 May 2019, at 5.00 PM in the Atrium of the University of Arts, building B, at 20 23 Lutego Street.

Professor Akira Tatehata is one of the most prominent and influencial men of culture in the post-war Japan, originator of the modern discussion on art in Japan. His successes are proven by the functions fulfilled in the past and nowadays:

- in 1990 and 1993 - commissioner of the Japan Pavillon during the Venice Biennale,

- in 2005 - 2011 - director of the National Art Museum of Osaka,

- in 2011 - 2015 - provost of the oldest university of art in Kyoto.

Professor Akira Tatehata is the most recognised researcher of the output of Kusama Yayoi, a Japan artist cooperating among others with Donald Judd, Andy Warhol, Damian Hirst or the Louis Vuitton brand. Articles and studies of the Professor have been regularly accompanying the scientific works published on the occasion of numerous exhibitions throughout the world, including in Tate Modern in London, Whitney Museum in New York, Centre Pompidou and many others.
