The University of Adam Mickiewicz and the City of Poznań invite for an open lecture, which will be given by Prof. Kieran Egan. The lecture entitled "Upbringing for imagination" will take place on September 10th (Tuesday) at 10:00a.m. in Lubrański Hall in Collegium Minus at 1 Wieniawski Street in Poznań.

Dr Kieran Egan is a Professor at Faculty of Education of the Simon Fraser University in Vancouver in Canada. He is the director of the Imaginative Education Research Group Institute, which he created himself. Prof. Kieran Egan is the creator of imaginative education and author of the conception of learning in depth and a new idea of school programmes for reimaging the school from the ground up. He is also the founder of the Imaginative Education Research Group in Canada. Activities of the Research group focus, first of all, on searching for ways to activate students' imagination during everyday lessons in order to improve learning results. Objectives of the Group are achieved both through literature studies and performed experimental studies. The distinguished world class specialists in learning and subject experts are involved in the Group activities.

In 2010, Professor Kieran Egan was included into the group of "25 Visionaries Who Are Changing Your World" by the Utne Reader, the American quarterly of alternative media. Professor Kieran Egan is a member of the American National Academy of Education. He is the world renowned scholar, educational philosopher and teacher as well as educationist. The most significant of his works include, among others, An Imaginative Approach to Teaching (2005); Teaching Literacy: Engaging the Imagination of New Readers and Writers (2006); The Future of Education: Reimaging our Schools from the Ground Up (2008); Learning in Depth: A Simple Innovation that Can Transform Schooling (2010).
