Programme description

Graduates gain the practical knowledge of two regional languages - one Slavonic that must be chosen from the group of following languages: Bulgarian/Macedonian/Serbian (lingual fluency level B1) and one non-Slavonic contained in the next group of languages: Albanian/Greek/Romanian/Turkish (lingual fluency level B1). The practical knowledge of those languages is supplemented with comprehensive skills from the range of Balkan contemporary literature and of the current cultural, social, political and economic transformations in the Balkans. The interdisciplinary character of education, including methods and research apparatus of languages and literatures studies, ethnology, history and political science, allows to achieve knowledge about the lingual, ethnic and political conditions, involving the identity questions, and their current forms in Balkan countries. ALL LECTURES AND SEMINARS WILL BE DELIVERED IN ENGLISH. MA DISSERTATION MIGHT BE WRITTEN EITHER IN ENGLISH OR ONE OF THE LANGUAGES OF THE BALKANS.

Requirements

B.A. in arts or social sciences. IELTS 6.5 or TOEFL 570 (230 computer-based).
