Poznań Bamberger Museum

Description

The Poznań Bamberger Museum of the Poznań Bamberger Association was established at the initiative of Professor Maria Paradowska. The museum helps its visitors learn about the history of Poznań Bambergers. The Bambergers came to Poznań three centuries ago to settle near the city, whose population at the time was decimated by the Great Northern War and a cholera epidemic. Several hundred Bambergers chose to move to Poznań at the invitation of the city authorities.

Their first settlement contract was concluded in 1719. To this day, this biggest local ethnic group holds a variety of sacral and secular festivities locally and nationally, sporting their unique outfits and successfully promoting the city. In addition to historic memorabilia, Poznań's Bamberger Museum features some of the tools and appliances used over a century ago. All museum tours are guided.
