Poznań can also have... a Young-Fan Zone
2012-02-08
A mini-kindergarten, a stage, four football fields, an "inflatable attractions" zone, children's workshops, and lots of other surprises, may await the little ones in Sołacki or Wodziczki Parks. These are the potential venues for the Young-Fan Zone.
Poznań is not only a city of adult football fans, but to a great extent younger ones also. Two events agencies - Flow Events and Golden Lion Sport Management - have turned to the City's authorities to support this concept. They would like to undertake the task of organising a special, free children's zone, friendly for every child and parent.
"We are keen supporters of such initiatives, knowing that EURO 2012 is an event for all generations, which also involves education through sports. Not only fans from Italy, Ireland, or Croatia, but also the youngest local fans can expect loads of attractions here," says Michał Prymas, the Mayor's Plenipotentiary for EURO 2012. "We wish to give children a chance to experience real sporting emotions connected with EURO 2012. I would be very pleased if there were companies that would financially support the originators of such a fan zone for children. The City, with its limited funds, is not able to do it. The Young-Fan Zone will definitely offer considerable opportunities for sponsors," adds Mr. Prymas.
Yesterday the idea was also approved by the Board of the Sołacz Housing Estate, so the zone could be located in the beautiful natural surroundings of Sołacki or Wodziczki Parks.
The plans provide for free admission to the zone and the requirement of parents' presence for children aged up to 16.
