Pakistani ambassador's visit to the capital of Greater Poland

Mariusz Wisniewski, Deputy Mayor of Poznań, received Malik Muhammad Farooq, Ambassador of Pakistan to Poland, at the Poznań City Hall on Thursday.

Malik Muhammad Farooq has been on mission in Poland since April 2020. He has previously worked at Pakistani diplomatic missions in Kuala Lumpur, Frankfurt and Kathmandu, among others. - I would like to see more Pakistani students and tourists coming to Poland. Poland is a very beautiful country" emphasized the Ambassador.

The diplomat also mentioned the little known story of Commander Wladyslaw Turowicz, a Polish airman who co-founded the Pakistan Air Force after World War II. A street in one of the Pakistani cities will soon bear Turowicz's name.

During the meeting at the city hall there were also discussed current issues related to the development of the capital of Wielkopolska, the economy and the Pakistani minority in Poznan.
- It is important to build international cooperation at various levels, including the local level. In this way, we strengthen understanding among people despite cultural, geographic or religious differences. The more contact between ordinary citizens, the greater the chances for peaceful coexistence and building international relations - said Mariusz Wiśniewski, Deputy Mayor of Poznań.

The Deputy Mayor also expressed his willingness to organize a meeting with Pakistani youth who would like to study in Poland.

In the academic year 2020/2021, about 20 Pakistanis studied at Poznań universities. As of mid-2021, there are 15 Pakistani citizens registered in the capital city of Wielkopolska.
