Let's play in Wielkopolska

- We take our mission and role very seriously, supporting entrepreneurs from various areas of activity - says Bartosz Guss, deputy mayor of Poznań. - The computer games industry is very innovative. This can be seen in the direction in which the Poznań fair is going - Game Arena and Pyrkon are in the top three in terms of the number of visitors. Popular games, such as "The Witcher" or "Cyberpunk 2077" with Keanu Reeves in the lead role, which will premiere next year, show what huge marketing medium such productions can carry. These games have not been created in Wielkopolska, but we believe that by supporting this market we will be able to celebrate similar successes in a few years - the deputy president explained.

The Investor Relations Department (BOI) has been supporting game development studios from Poznań for over two years as part of industry events - fairs and conferences, e.g. during the largest conference in Central and Eastern Europe for specialists from the gamedev GIC industry in Poznań and the Quo Vadis conference in Berlin. The Polish stand at the Berlin event was organized twice with the participation of the City of Poznań, and seven game development studios from Poznań have been supported by the Investor Relations Department.

In June 2018, works began on the application of the "ZaGRAjmy w Wielkopolsce" project, thanks to which local gamedev studios creating computer games will take part in trade fairs in Europe and the United States. "ZaGRAjmy w Wielkoposce" is the reaction of the Investor Relations Department to the dynamically developing game development industry, which already includes about 30 studies in Poznań. The total value of the project coordinated by BOI is almost PLN 2 million "ZaGRAjmy w Wielkopolsce" is a unique, first project of this type implemented by a Polish city.

- This is a very interesting project. We know how significant the computer games industry is in Poland. It is similar in our province. We want to show the innovativeness of Wielkopolska enterprises dealing with this sphere of production - says Marshal Marek Woźniak.

The value of the gamedev sector is globally estimated at USD 135 billion, while in Poland it is at the level of USD 541.5 million. The computer game manufacturers industry is developing the fastest in large cities. Polish developers are responsible for the success of such games as the Witcher, Frostpunk and Cyberpunk series.

Rafał Kaszta, the Chancellor of the School of Banking, also signed the co-financing agreement granting funds from the Greater Poland Regional Operational Program 2014+. In this case, EU funds will be allocated to the renovation of two historic tenement houses at  Ratajczaka St. The Center for Social Entrepreneurship Education will be created there. The total value of the project is approximately PLN 6.3 million, of which over PLN 4.3 million is the amount of EU funding.
