Open lecture: "Relaxation and Expression"

The Music Academy and the City of Poznań invite you to an open lecture entitled "Relaxation and Expression" led by Prof. Justus Grimm. The lecture will be held on October 19 at 2:00 p.m. in the Presidential Hall of the Music Academy of Jan Ignacy Paderewski in Poznań, ul. Św. Marcin 87.

Prof. Justus Grimm

Prof. Justus Grimm received his first cello lessons from his father at the age of five. He continued his musical education with Ulrich Voss, Claus Kanngiesser, and later with Frans Helmerson in Stockholm and Cologne. He has proved his outstanding talent with successes in many music competitions. Together with the pianist Florian Wieca, he won the first prize at the Maria Canals Competition in Barcelona, and additionally received the award of the German Music Council.
Justus Grimm's solo and chamber concerts opened his way to a career all over Europe. The soloist's participation in the premiere of Matthias Pintscher's cello concerto "La Metamorfosi di Narciso" with the Hamburg Philharmonic Orchestra in 1993 marked the beginning of Justus Grimm's solo concerts with many other orchestras, including the English Chamber Orchestra, London Chamber Orchestra, Orchester Royal de Wallonie, Orchester Symphonique de la Monnaie, Bonn Classical Philharmonic and Brandenburg State Orchestra Frankfurt
The artist has performed in the most renowned concert halls in the world, such as the Berlin Philharmonic, Hamburg Concert Hall, Cologne Philharmonic, Theater du Chatelet in Paris, Munich's Hercules Hall and the Cultural Center in Lisbon.
Justus Grimm has collaborated with prominent artists such as Abdel Raman El Bacha, Daniel Blumenthal, Gerard Caussé, Augustin Dumay, Stephen Kovacevich, Katia and Marielle Labeque, Antonio Pappano and Kazushi Ono. He has received invitations to important festivals, including the Ludwigsburg Festival, the Van Vlaanderen Festival in Belgium, the Lisbon Dias da Musica, the Florilegio Salamanca Festival in Argentina, Sonoro Romania in Bucharest, the Chamber Music Festival in Thy, the Klara Festival in Brussels and the Resonances Festival in Belgium. In addition to recording in many European radio stations, Justus Grimm has also made CD recordings. It is worth mentioning the CD Trio Age (Christina Fassbender, Justus Grimm and Florian Wiecz) with pieces by Philippe Gaubert, which received the highest rating from the French Diapaison magazine
In 2012, an artist-recorded album of early works by George Enescu was released, and shortly afterwards a complete recording of Cesar Franck's chamber works was released. The album received the Prix Cecilia award for the best record of 2012.
Justus Grimm as a member and founder of the Malibran quartet has dedicated himself to the extremely rich repertoire of this genre since 2008.
Teaching plays a key role in Justus Grimm's artistic life. He lectured at the Brussels Chapelle Reine Elisabeth (2002-2003) and the Music Institute in Namur (2003-2008), and in 2008 he obtained the title of professor of cello at the Royal Conservatory in Antwerp, where he has also been the Artistic Director since 2013. He plays the cello from 2010 by the French violin maker - Christian Bayon.
