British Cinema in Poznań

Between 12 and 16 November, the second edition of the British Film Festival will take place. The festival is a celebration of the cinema from the United Kingdom. It will feature dozens of films, meetings with filmmakers, special events, and screenings in unexpected locations.

It's the interior of a cinema with a modern retro style. A large neon sign reading "KINO MUZA" glows on the wall. Next to it stands a red British-style phone booth. Illuminated movie posters hang on the walls, and the floor features a black-and-white checkerboard pattern. Dark tones dominate the space, accented by bright neon lights, creating a moody, artistic atmosphere. - grafika artykułu
The second edition of the British Film Festival will take place between 12 and 16 November.

This year's programme consists of several sections showing the full spectrum of British cinema, from timeless classics to contemporary independent films.
First Things First presents pre-premiere screenings of films that often never reach regular distribution in Poland.

The Classics section will be devoted to iconic titles of British cinema. Screenings will take place from digitally restored copies as well as traditional 16 mm and 35 mm film prints. In the High Season section audiences will see the most notable films of the 2024/2025 season. Mind the Gap focuses on social realism, a movement characteristic of British cinema, tackling themes of everyday life, politics, and class divisions.
Period and historical films will be featured in the Five o'clock section. The category name refers to the traditional British teatime. Screenings in this series will start at 5:00 p.m.

The Bloody Hell! Section will be dedicated to low-budget, often absurd B-movies that have become cult classics.

In addition to film screenings, there will be meetings with filmmakers, discussion panels, and other cultural events. Some screenings will take place in unusual locations, giving the festival a unique atmosphere.

The organisers emphasise that the British Film Festival is not only a celebration of cinema but also a space for discussions about contemporary culture and society.

The second edition of the festival will take place from 12 to 16 November at various locations across Poznań.
