We cooperate with our Hungarian partner in many areas and have had a partnership agreement for 16 years. The subject of climate protection and the environment has become a field for us to exchange good practices and experiences. At the invitation of the City of Gyor, representatives of the Climate and Environment Department of the City Hall gave a lecture at the fourth edition of the Climat Expo Gyor conference taking place on 3-5 October 2024.

Poznań good practices and challenges of climate change adaptation and climate and environmental policy were presented by Dr Alicja Nowak. The City of Poznań in 2023 joined the Covenant of Mayors for Climate and Energy, which involves planning and implementing a number of mitigation and adaptation measures and developing planning and strategic documents. Among other things, our speaker told the audience about these challenges.

Experiences of climate and environmental protection at the IV. Climate Expo Győr were also shared by representatives of Gyor's partner cities including Romania's Miercurea-Ciuc, Slovakia's Dunajská Streda, Germany's Ingolstadt and Sindelfingen. A workshop with experts on urban biodiversity conservation and community gardens and related strategic goals was organised specially for visitors from the twin cities.

Furthermore, young people and children from the City of Győr were able to attend the event free of charge, listen to lectures and visit the fair stands. Activities were specially organised for them, where they could learn through interaction and playful learning how to care for and protect the climate and environment, while strengthening their sense of responsibility and commitment to the planet. At the exhibitor stands of the IV. Climate Expo Győr all visitors were able to obtain a wide range of information on sustainability, environmental awareness and the fight against climate change.

The visit of the Poznań delegation to Hungary was also an opportunity to meet and get to know the new Mayor of Győr, Bence Pintér, who took office on 1 October this year. Representatives of the City of Poznań also had the opportunity to talk to their counterparts from the Department of Environmental Protection and the Department of Foreign Relations of the City Hall of Győr.
