Free First Aid Workshops

In Poznań, the number of AED defibrillators is increasing. Thanks to the Poznań Civic Budget, 8 new devices have already been installed, and 3 more will be added this year. Although they are easy to use, it is worth learning how to operate them.

Re.akcja Foundation, a Polish non-profit organization, invites residents to free first aid workshops at the Centrum Inicjatyw Społecznych - Social Initiatives Center.

Defibrillators help save lives in cases of sudden cardiac arrest and anyone can use them. The device provides clear, step-by-step instructions, so even someone without medical training can operate it. To help the residents of Poznań feel confident and know how to respond in an emergency, the Re.akcja Foundation is organizing free, two-hour first aid workshops. Participants will learn, among other things, how to perform CPR on adults and children and how to use an AED.

During the workshops, participants will learn step by step how to respond in a life-threatening situation. Modern training manikins will be used to show the quality of chest compressions. "It is only two hours, yet participants can gain knowledge that may save lives," says Aleksandra Bugaj, an instructor at the Re.akcja Foundation. The workshops take place at the Poznań Centre for Family Initiatives at 44 Ratajczaka Street, which is a project partner.

Six sessions are scheduled on the following dates:

March 7 (Saturday), 12:30-2:30 p.m.
March 10, 4:00-6:00 p.m.
March 17, 4:00-6:00 p.m.
March 23, 4:00-6:00 p.m.
March 28 (Saturday), 12:00-2:00 p.m.
March 30, 4:00-6:00 p.m.

The next workshops will take place this weekend. Participation is free of charge, but places are limited, so registration is required. The registration form is available at: luma.com/pierwsza-pomoc.

The series is part of the "Ruszamy Serca" - Bringing Hearts Back to Life - campaign run by the Re.akcja Foundation. Its goal is to improve the safety of Poznań residents by increasing access to AED defibrillators and knowledge of how to use them.

"We want there to be as many of these devices in Poznań as possible, and for them to be available 24 hours a day, ideally directly from the street. That is why we are strongly involved in the Poznań Civic Budget, and through the "Ruszamy Serca' campaign we want to further strengthen our efforts," says Bartłomiej Banachowicz, President of the Re.akcja Foundation and author of projects in the Civic Budget.

The Re.akcja Foundation is a Poznań-based organization whose mission is to improve residents' safety - both in everyday life and online - through education, prevention, and practical activities that support responsible response in crisis situations.
