The Story of Poznań's Former Collegiate Church

The event, titled "Light of the Lost Collegiate Church", will transform the façade of Poznań City Hall into a moving visual story about one of the most important churches in the City's history. Once a dominant landmark of old Poznań, the Collegiate Church of St. Mary Magdalene no longer exists, yet its memory remains beneath today's Plac Kolegiacki where archaeological relics of the building survive underground.

History Meets Digital Art

Using advanced projection technology, animations, music and architectural illusion, the show will recreate the atmosphere and grandeur of the former church, allowing audiences to imagine how this remarkable building once shaped the City skyline and public life of historical Poznań.

Nine Evening Performances

Nine performances are scheduled between 10:00 p.m. and midnight. The late-evening hours are necessary to achieve the full visual effect of the large-format projections which require complete darkness.

An Educational and Cultural Experience

Organizers emphasize that the event is designed not only as an artistic attraction but also as an educational and cultural experience aimed at promoting the history and heritage of Poznań. Special efforts will be made to keep sound levels focused mainly within Plac Kolegiacki to minimize inconvenience for nearby residents.

Bringing the Past Back for One Night

By combining digital art with local history, the event offers a rare opportunity to see a vanished monument symbolically brought back to life.
