Malta Lake - A World-Famous Venue for Canoe Sprint
Once again, the iconic Malta Regatta Course will become the centre of international canoe sprint. From 26 to 30 August, Olympic medallists, reigning world champions and Europe's top athletes will compete for world titles in Poznań. The championships will welcome teams from traditional canoe sprint powerhouses such as Australia, Canada and Hungary, as well as countries including Peru, Samoa, Saudi Arabia, Cabo Verde and Angola. This global participation highlights the worldwide appeal of the sport. For years, Poznań has been recognised as one of Europe's leading canoe sprint destinations. The Malta Regatta Course regularly hosts major international events under the authority of the International Canoe Federation (ICF), confirming the city's position on the global sports map.

The championships offer a unique opportunity to experience elite sport up close.Visitors will be able to watch Olympic medallists, world champions and rising stars compete against the beautiful backdrop of Malta Lake. "Poznań has demonstrated for many years that it can successfully host world-class sporting events. The ICF Canoe Sprint and Paracanoe World Championships are not only a competition between the best athletes in the world, but also a chance to showcase the potential of our city and the Malta Regatta Course," says Marcin Gołek, Deputy Mayor of Poznań. "We want everyone to experience the atmosphere of the championships, not only from the grandstands, but also in the specially prepared Fan Zone," he adds.
Free Fan Zone: Try Kayaking, SUP and Dragon Boats
The championships will be accompanied by a free Fan Zone located near the start area of the Malta Regatta Course, close to Jana Pawła II Street. From 27 to 30 August, between 11:00 and 16:00, visitors can take part in a variety of sports and recreational activities, including: SUP boarding, recreational kayaking, dragon boating, kayak polo. The programme will also feature freestyle and whitewater kayaking demonstrations, as well as activities led by professional instructors.
Fun for the Whole Family
The Fan Zone will offer attractions for visitors of all ages. Children can enjoy inflatable playgrounds, obstacle courses, games, sports challenges and competitions with prizes. Adults can relax in the chill-out area with deckchairs, music and stage performances. Visitors will also have the chance to join fan competitions, meet championship participants and enjoy the festival atmosphere surrounding the event. All Fan Zone activities will be free of charge.
