Education and Youth Development
A significant part of the Deputy Mayor's work concerns the education system in Poznań. This includes overseeing the functioning of municipal schools and educational institutions and supporting the development and well-being of children and young people in the City.

Department of Economic Activity and Agriculture - supports local businesses, entrepreneurship, and agricultural initiatives.
Department of Culture - responsible for the development of cultural life and cooperation with City cultural institutions.

- public healthcare institutions established by the City of Poznań,
- the Poznań Nursery System, which provides care for children under three,
- Poznań Benefits Centre, responsible for the distribution of various social benefits,
- Senior Initiatives Centre, which supports programs and activities for older residents,
- childcare facilities such as nurseries, children's clubs, and day caregivers,
- the city's zoological garden, an important educational and recreational institution in Poznań.
Support for Social Economy
Through the Municipal Family Support Centre, the Deputy Mayor also supervises cooperation with the social cooperative "Poznanianka" which supports employment and social inclusion initiatives.
Cooperation with Municipal Companies
The Deputy Mayor coordinates the work of selected municipal companies that perform public tasks on behalf of the city. These include:
Poznański Fundusz Poręczeń Kredytowych - supporting access to financing for local businesses,
Targowiska sp. z o.o. - responsible for managing municipal marketplaces,
Wielkopolska Gildia Rolno-Ogrodnicza - an important wholesale market for agricultural and horticultural products.
Cooperation with the Labour Office
The Second Deputy Mayor also works closely with the Powiatowy Urząd Pracy w Poznaniu (District Labour Office in Poznań) to support employment policies, professional activation programs, and initiatives that help residents find jobs.
Second Deputy Mayor at a Glance
Jędrzej Solarski, the Second Deputy Mayor of Poznań, is a lawyer by profession with extensive experience in public administration.
He was born on 29 April 1973 in Poznań. In 1998, he graduated from the Faculty of Law and Administration at Adam Mickiewicz University in Poznań, one of Poland's leading universities.
Career in Public Administration: Mr. Solarski began his professional career in 1998 at the Voivodeship Office in Poznań, where he gained his first experience in government administration.
In 2002, he was appointed Director of the Department of Civil Affairs and Crisis Management at the District Office in Poznań where he was responsible for matters related to public administration services and emergency management.
Since October 2003, he has been working at Poznań City Hall. From the beginning of his tenure, he was involved in the work of the Organisational Department, first serving as Deputy Director until 2011, and later, after a transitional period as acting director, becoming Director of the Department. This role allowed him to gain extensive experience in municipal governance, administrative management, and the coordination of City services.
Academic and Professional Development: Early in his career, Mr. Solarski was also involved in education. Between 1999 and 2000, he served as a lecturer on public administration reform at the People's University in Poznań.
He has also completed postgraduate studies in labour law and has participated in numerous professional training programs covering topics such as public management, crisis management systems, access to public information, internal control in public administration and human resources management.
Some of this training included international programs on crisis management and emergency response in the Hanover region of Germany.
Supervisory and Governance Roles: Since 2019, Mr. Solarski has served on supervisory boards of important municipal companies, including Międzynarodowe Targi Poznańskie (Poznań International Fair) - where he is a member of the Supervisory Board and Remondis Sanitech Poznań - where he serves as Vice-Chairman of the Supervisory Board.
These roles involve overseeing the strategic development and management of companies that play an important role in the economic life of the city.
Interests
Mr. Solarski is very active in sport. He has won several local government tennis tournaments, demonstrating a long-standing passion for tennis.
