House No. 45It belonged to the Grodzicki family from the late fifteenth century. The Grodzickis accumulated their wealth by engaging in a large-scale trade in cloth, fur and down and established a strong position in the city from the end of the fifteenth century, owning four tenement houses and holding important church offices. The most prominent member of the family was Stanisław Grodzicki, a Jesuit priest and a leading supporter of counter-reformation, who utilised the art of salesmanship when formulating the church's stand on usury. While professor and chancellor of the Vilnius Academy, he also participated in the development of the curriculum for Jesuit colleges. He was also one of the censors of Jakub Wujek's famous translation of the Bible.
In 1570 a bay window was built facing Woźna Street. The building was rebuilt in the Baroque style, and together with two adjoining buildings, it now houses the Museum of Musical Instruments.
