Description of partner institution:
The Internationale Akademie (INA gGmbH) was founded in 1996 as a learning organization of practitioners, researchers and academics working on issues related to education. To date INA consists of 22 institutes among them several work on curriculum and school development, in-service training, conceptualization and production of training materials, qualitative social research, community education, learning in a global world, children rights, pro-social skills in regions of conflict and on quality development of early education.
INA-BeKi is responsible for steering and monitoring the quality development of all publicly funded kindergarten in the region of Berlin. Its collaborators are the authors of the official educational curriculum for the early years as well as quality criteria for self-evaluation. One of the quality areas of the curriculum are "educational projects". This is a method through children are engaged in exploratory, self-propelled and active learning which fosters in turn a broad range of skills and competencies such as language development, social and cognitive skills as well as knowledge about natural science and basic technology experiences.
INA-BeKi provides in-service training on a wide range of educational content fields all linked to methods of active learning and hence the development of educational quality in kindergarten.
Role in the project:
INA-BeKi will be the main expert on the content of the project for all local partners in Berlin.
Representatives of INA-BeKi will participate in study visits and in the team work of experts, exchanging experiences and best practices in particular in terms of developing innovative methods of work for pre-school teachers. They will present INA-BeKi activities and methods of work in relation to active learning methods and development of quality in kindergarten.
INA-BeKi will be responsible for preparing and conducting workshops for pre-school teachers and directors of Berlin kindergarten and for coordinating the work on a publication presenting innovative methods of work based on active learning.
In cooperation with IMD, INA BeKi will develop evaluation tools for monitoring of the project progress and document the evaluation results.
After the end of the project INA BeKi will take part in disseminating project results through adopting project know-how in training programmes for the Berlin region.
