Going to Poznan for UEFA EURO 2012™, as easy as it gets!
2012-04-11
60 days before UEFA EURO 2012™, the sale of tickets for international trains from Berlin to Poznań has been launched. Prices start at between ten and twenty Euro! The capital city of Germany is only 280 km from Poznan, the nearest UEFA EURO 2012™ Host City, and the journey takes less than 2.5 hours. Travelling via Berlin is one of the most convenient ways of reaching Poznan.
Poznan can be reached in the fastest way by plane. The city has a well-developed network of airline connections with several dozen European cities. Due to links with several of the most important airports in Europe, including Frankfurt am Main, Munich and Copenhagen, one can fly, with a transfer, to virtually any European airport.
Berlin, with high-quality transport connections with Poznan, can be a very attractive link with this UEFA EURO 2012™ Host City for football fans. It is worth adding that direct bus transport will also be organised on the route from Poznan to the new Berlin airport, which will be open at the beginning of June. This option will certainly increase the possibilities of travelling to Poznan.
Railway and car transport are alternative means of transport. Berlin is 280 km from Poznan by rail, and the distance can be covered by car in approx. 2.5 hours. The direct motorway is an excellent connection between Poznan and Western Europe. From the capital city of Germany one can easily travel by motorway to the Netherlands, Belgium, Switzerland and Austria. In addition, between Poznan and Berlin there are buses which cover this distance in approx. 3-3.5 hours, and the tickets cost from several to approx. 30 euro.
Poznań also has excellent railway connections with Germany. Every day four direct trains depart from Berlin, taking us to Poznan as quickly as in 2.5 hours. While travelling to more distant corners of the Old Continent, it is good to remember about rail passes (e.g. http://www.raileurope.com/rail-tickets-passes/). Passengers arriving from Italy will find the European Rail Pass useful (212 euro, II class), as it entitles you to travel by train across e.g. Austria, the Czech Republic, and Poland. Similarly, fans from other Western-European countries may purchase the appropriate passes.

If you plan a visit to the Poznan, we recommend that you stay here longer than for one match-day. Such a stay provides an opportunity to sense the atmosphere of the city, to discover the delicious local beer or to enjoy the recreational attractions. The "Half-price Poznan" action, held on the last weekend of April (28-29.04.), is a great chance to find out for yourself; during this weekend the local restaurants, hotels and museums reduce the prices of their services by 50%!
