Ławica Airport is on the way up!
2012-02-06
We are approaching the end of the first phase of work on the passenger terminal at Poznan airport. The new segment of the facility, with a total area of 17.8 thousand square km, will be commissioned before the start of UEFA EURO 2012™.
It will include an arrivals area with a baggage sorting facility, as well as a link between the old and new sectors. The scope of the works includes changing the communication system within the airport terminal, as well as enlarging the car park. The general contractor for the investment is Hochtief Polska.
The work inside the facility should be completed by February and the first passengers will be the football fans arriving in Poznań for EURO 2012. The construction of a taxiway parallel to the runway as well as a new airport ramp are also approaching completion. All the construction works are completed and the ramp is marked with locating signs in compliance with aviation law requirements. Installation works on the lighting system are yet to be finished. The new airport facilities will be commissioned in May. Constructed with the use of asphalt technology, the new parallel taxiway has an approximate surface of 13 ha and is 2.5 km long. The new part of the concrete apron can hold up to six large aeroplanes.
