2012-02-01
UEFA, the Local Organising Committee for EURO 2012 Poland and the Polish UEFA EURO 2012™ Host Cities are inviting everyone over 16 to take part in casting sessions for the Pre-Match Ceremonies of UEFA EURO 2012™.
The Pre-Match Ceremonies in Poland are being organised by UEFA in close cooperation with the Host Cities, which are to single out 100 volunteers. During the first and the last match of the Tournament, Opening and Closing Ceremonies will take place. The remaining matches, both in Poland and Ukraine, will be preceded by Pre-Match Ceremonies. They will take place on the pitch immediately before the kick-off of each match.
The Pre-Match Ceremonies will last 6 minutes. Each will feature elements characteristic of the given Host City, Poland, and Ukraine. The ceremonies are also to support UEFA's values - RIVALRY, UNITY, PASSION - and to honour the national teams participating in the Tournament. The first part of the Ceremony will be a show presenting the symbolism of the given Host City - the Neptune in Gdańsk, the Goats and Star in Poznań, the Mermaid in Warsaw, and the Grunwald Bridge in Wrocław. The second part, promoting the Tournament and the participating national teams, will be organised according to a common script in all eight Host Cities in Poland and Ukraine.
