The city's volunteer project for 2012 has been launched. At a press conference in the Poznań City Hall the President, Ryszard Grobelny, Mezo - Poznań's Ambassador of UEFA EURO 2012 and persons responsible for the realization of the project for Poznań and the PL.2012 company presented details of the recruitment drive being launched and the work scope of the 600 persons willing to work in June 2012.
"The project of city' volunteers for EURO 2012 is being realized with the close cooperation of the City Halls of Gdańsk, Poznań, Warsaw and Wrocław and the PL.2012 company, which coordinates joint works" said Andrzej B. Tomczak. "Our project is generating a lot of interest. The web page www.wolontariatmiejski2012.pl has been visited by over 50 thousand people per month. I am convinced that now the recruitment has started, the numbers will go up significantly."
We invite both teenagers and seniors, the disabled and the residents of tournament cities, as well as any other cities - big and small, from Poland and abroad, to take part in the recruitment process.
How do you become a volunteer? It's very easy. You should complete a form in Polish located in the special section of the web page www.wolontariatmiejski2012.pl dedicated to recruitment, and then answer a 25-question test to check your proficiency in English.
Who can become a volunteer in the public zone during EURO 2012? The answer is simple: anyone, who (by 30 April 2012) is 18 and can speak English at a communicative level.
Recruitment through the e-forms will conclude in January 2012, and afterwards the interviews with selected candidates will start. In May 2012 training for volunteers will take place.
On the web page www.wolontariatmiejski2012.pl news concerning volunteer work, the Host Cities and activities directly connected with organisation of the Tournament will be published on a regular basis. References to the web page and complementary information concerning volunteer work will also be published on the Facebook networking site (www.facebook.com/Wolontariat.Miast.Gospodarzy). Volunteers present on the streets of Host Cities will provide information about the Tournament and the accompanying events, public transport in the city and between the cities, tourist attractions and cultural and leisure activities in cities and regions where the matches will be played. The volunteers will service tourists, fans, journalists and residents of the Host Cities during the Tournament. They will work at the airports, railway stations, near stadiums, in the Fan Zones, in the medical points designated to service Euro 2012, police stations and in the main commuting points in the Host Cities. There will be almost 3 thousand volunteers in total. Why is their work so important?
The scope of the training for volunteers will be the same in all 4 Host Cities, so the level of the services provided by them in each of the cities will be the same. Volunteers working in Warsaw, Gdańsk, Poznań and Wrocław during EURO 2012 will get clothing, the same in each city. It will make it easier to recognize them in the urban zone for fans travelling during Euro 2012 between the particular Host Cities.
