Poznań employers operating in the IT sector rated the city as a good or very good place to do business. As many as 80% of companies positively assess high qualifications of employees and their quality of work. The surveyed companies point to the need to improve the level of education in schools and universities (24%).
Poznań educates future employees of the IT industry
- The Poznań market is full of IT specialists with excellent qualifications. We are aware that this industry is growing dynamically and the demand for professionals is growing. That is why the City of Poznań includes launched, with the support of EU funds, the program "Raising competences in the field of mathematics and computer science by high school students of Poznan" - says Katarzyna Sobocińska, deputy director of the Investor Relations Department of the City of Poznań.
It is worth noting that the Pro Progressio Foundation, whose area of interest is the modern services sector, points to the increase in the number of graduates of IT majors in Poznań lasting for several years. This phenomenon is not often observed in other cities in Poland.
In fact, Poznań is one of the main centers in Poland gathering specialists in the IT industry. This is favored by the presence of universities, where 6 100 students study in the field of information technologies. The number of graduates is estimated at 1,500.
Planned increase in employment
The publication "Investment potential of the IT sector in Poznań" was based on surveys among 25 companies from the IT sector in Poznań. The surveyed companies specialize primarily in the development and delivery of software (84%), system integration (68%) and the implementation of new tools (52%). In the vast majority of companies, employees use the SQL programming language (80%), JavaScript (68%) and C#/.NET (68%).
In the report "Investment potential of the IT sector in Poznań", the companies also revealed their development plans for the current year. Virtually all surveyed employers (92%) plan to expand their teams in 2019, and 8% want to keep the current number of employees. None of the companies provides for a reduction of posts. Such plans confirm the good condition of the IT industry in Poznań.
The most optimistic plans in this regard have small (employing up to 25 employees) and large (over 150 employees) companies. The most effective method of acquiring new employees according to the surveyed companies is the use of a paid command program (88% of companies confirmed), the use of social media (36%) and the publication of job advertisements (32%).

In the Wielkopolska region, there are nearly 13,000 ICT companies. It is estimated that 53% of them are based in Poznań. Over the last year, the number of companies in this sector increased by nearly 1000.
The report is available in Polish and English for free. The publication "Investment potential of the IT sector in Poznań" was prepared by Experis at the request of the City of Poznań. An important element of the report are the presented results of the study, the purpose of which was to verify the potential, possibilities and barriers to the development of the analyzed industry. 25 companies representing the local IT sector took part in the survey conducted by Experis. Data were collected in the period September-October 2018, using the qualitative method using a survey. The publication provides readers with information on the current status, trends and investment attractiveness of the ICT sector in Poznań and the Poznań agglomeration.
