A competition for the best sculptors from all over the world!
Traditionally in December Poznań hosts the biggest show of ice sculpture in Europe. The prestigious competition, organized during the Poznań's Bethlehem, attracts the best artists from all over the world each year. During one weekend the sculptors use a few dozen tons of ice to enchant the citizens and numerous tourists with the impressive show of ice pieces of art. This year's event takes place on 10 - 11 December.
In the second weekend of December, at the representative place in the city, you will see unique pieces of art. For the sixth time the festival will be attended by most talented ice sculpture artists and world masters. Representatives of Russia, France, United States, Canada and Poland will come to Poznań.
"Speed Ice Carving - 10 December, Main Stage
The most spectacular festival competition. The contestants compete individually and they have a dozen minutes to recreate the competition pattern, each in an identical ice block. The most faithful recreation of the pattern wins. Come to the Old Market Square and see how quickly an ice sculpture may be created! Root for the best!
Main Competition - 11 December, The Old Market Square
12 two-person teams, 12 blocks of ice, freedom of topic. All the teams have one day to create a few-meter-high sculptures. Impressive lights and unique atmosphere of the Old Market Square together create one of a kind climate of one of the most famous ice sculpture competitions in the world. Selection of the winner and handing out the prizes will take place in the evening, at 7 p.m.
Depending on the weather, the frozen pieces of art may be admired till the end of the Poznań's Bethlehem.
