Platinum LEED Core & Shell certification for Poznań office building Nowy Rynek E. This is the highest rating for pro-environmental solutions

Another office building of Nowy Rynek, developed by Skanska in Poznań's Wilda district, has been awarded the highest rating in the international LEED certification. This confirms that building E of the complex is distinguished not only by its modern design, but above all by the complexity of the solutions used in it, which reduce its impact on the environment and at the same time increase the comfort of the people working in it.

LEED is a well-known investment rating system in the global construction industry. The certification provides a framework for designing buildings that promote well-being and are economical in their use of natural resources.

- Building E was designed to make the occupants feel comfortable and safe. We also took into account the needs of the city and its residents. We have not forgotten about the environment either. We have done everything to ensure that our building has less impact on it. And this involves using solutions that not only meet current standards, but also go above and beyond them - says Konrad Ziejewski, Project Director at the office company Skanska in Central and Eastern Europe. - The certificate we have just received is confirmation, both for us and for the city, that an environmentally responsible investment has been made here - adds Konrad Ziejewski.

Technologies have been used in the building, thanks to which drinking water consumption is reduced by as much as 64%. The infrastructure of the office building also allows for the collection of rainwater and grey water, i.e. water that has already been used once and can be reused, for example for flushing toilets. The tenants' premises have water-saving fittings installed to guarantee control of water consumption throughout the building. Thanks to the solutions used, such as innovative LED lighting, the building uses more than 30 per cent less energy.

More than a quarter of the materials used to build the office building contained admixtures of recycled products. These include concrete, steel, aluminium, glass or insulation.

However, the location of the building itself is also significant - close to the Old Town and, most importantly, in the immediate vicinity of the Central Station, next to tram and bus stops and a network of cycle paths. In the context of LEED certification, this is extremely important. It means that getting to the workplace generates a much lower carbon footprint. And it is even more environmentally beneficial to get to the site by bicycle, which is why the well organised bicycle infrastructure in the building, i.e. special changing rooms with showers, places to leave one's bicycle and wide special lifts, thanks to which it is possible to get directly to the underground floors of the building from outside, was appreciated as part of the assessment.

In addition to the certificate it has just received, Nowy Rynek E has also been honoured by the jury of the PLGBC Green Building Awards. Last year, the office building received an award in the category 'Best Green Pre-Certified Building'.
