Programme description

Faculty of Sculpture and Space Activities was built on tradition of Poznan Decorative Arts School formed in 1919 where Sculpture was dominated subject of education. After the war thanks to such great teachers as professors : Jacek Puget, Bazyli Wójtowicz, Magdalena Więcek-Wnukowa and Józef Kopczyński the Faculty educated the elite of polish sculpture - practicians - professionalists and new generation of teachers developing thinking about art in sculpture contexts on a very sophisticated way - in an international scale. From 2005 the range of artistic activities at the Faculty grown up to such level that it was necessary to improve a new name respecting new activities present in practice. We still continue work at classical studios which covers studies from nature, different sculpture techniques (full sculpture, relief and medals) also discovering and practicing basic materials as plaster, wood, metal, ceramics, stone, resin) more over sculpture technologies as casting with mud, lost wax and throwing plaster, in case of ceramics all range of technologies from shaping, casting, glazing including experimental. On the other hand we have fast growing studios which penetrating new areas of space activities and sculpture way of thinking. There are studios which operate new materials, techniques, performing activities, ephemeral and multidisciplinary annexing values which belonged in the past to other art disciplines in example: painting, fabric, teacher, film, photography including holography.
