Open lecture "Mr Techno Viking himself on art and ecology"
Matthias Fritsch lives and works in Berlin. He studied the art of the media at Hochschule für Gestaltung Karlsruhe (HfG) in Germany and Film, Visual Arts and Curating at Bard College, Center for Curatorial Studies (CCS) in New York, USA.
The artist is the creator of several short and full-length films as well as installations based on media. He is best known as the initiator of the Internet Technoviking meme.
In recent years, Fritsch has been involved in urban food culture, experimenting with soil production and ecological everyday items. He is the initiator of a social settlement project in a forest garden near Berlin. The premise of this community is self-sufficiency and living by own labor for at least three generations. Recently, he is also conducting a workshop on the food fermentation processes and is still exploring concepts which can help our cities develop more sustainably.
