Poland is the winner of EUROASMUS AND FRIENDS CUP 2022!
The EUROASMUS AND FRIENDS CUP, inaugurated in 2012, was held for the ninth time this year under the slogan "Together we play, support together, celebrate together!".
The tournament was attended by teams from: Lebanon, Uzbekistan, Algeria, India, France, Spain, Portugal and Poland, consisting of 10 international students (studying in Poznań) representing their home countries. Teams were represented by specific countries (at least 4 players had to be nationals of that country). Only 1 team could represent a specific country.
After fierce matches in the final, the representatives of Algeria and Poland faced each other. After a 2 x 8-minute match and scoring 4 goals, the white-and-reds could finally lift the cup for the best team by winning 4:0. The match for the third place turned out to be even more fierce, with players from France and Portugal facing each other. After the regulation time, the scoreboard was 1: 1, which meant a series of penalties. In it, France kept more of a cool head, scoring one goal more and finally winning 1:1 (5:4).
EUROASMUS AND FRIENDS CUP has been enjoying great popularity among the foreign academic community for many years. First organized in 2012, on the occasion of the European Championships held in Poznań, the games still attract many willing participants and show that the legacy of UEFA Euro 2012 is still alive. The tournament also fulfills another function: it integrates students from all over the world who are learning in Poznań and promotes the city around the world thanks to extensive photo reports on social networks.
