Maltanka

Description

The tracks of a kids' train run along the northern shores of the lake. A picturesque route, almost 4 km long, runs from the "Maltanka' station, situated in the neighbourhood of the Śródka roundabout, through the "Balbinka' stop, to the "Zwierzyniec' station, located in the vicinity of the main entrance to the Zoological Gardens. Travelling by this crazy choo-choo we can admire not only the charming lake, from which at certain times the water plume of the biggest fountain in Poznan erupts, but we can also see the following from the train's windows: an attractive, all-year-round ski slope and a summer toboggan run, as well as the architecturally interesting shape of the Hotel Park, bicycle lanes, children's playgrounds and pathways. The train runs during the summer season - from May until the end of September. In the winter, a closed motor carriage known as "Ryjek' (little snout) by Poznan inhabitants, on account of its characteristic shape, runs along the Maltanka route.
