Local Human Development Index

The quality of life in Poznan was highly rated in a study measuring the local and regional level of social development, on the basis of Local Human Development Index (LHDI), carried out under the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) on behalf of the Ministry of Regional Development. The LHDI includes data from three categories: health (life expectancy of a newborn baby, the number of deaths from heart disease and cancer), education (percentage of children covered by pre-school education and average score on the lower-secondary school exam in mathematics and science part in relation to the national average), the level of wealth (the sum of taxable income before tax plus income from agriculture and the total expenditure on social assistance). In this study, Poznań took the 6th place (health index 62.35; education index 85.83; the level of wealth 68,37), after Warsaw, the Piaseczno District, Pruszkow District, West Warsaw district and Cracow.
