Jeffrey Jerome Cohen is a professor specialising in medieval literature. He obtained his education mainly at the University of Harvard, at the Institute of English and American Literature and Language, where he defended his master thesis and doctorate. In 1995-1998 he acted as Director of the Interdisciplinary Humanities Programme at the George Washington University in Washington. In 1998, he was appointed Professor at this University, at the Department of English and Program in Human Sciences and he occupied this position until 2003. In the years 2006-2009, he served as the Head of the Department of English. Since 2008, he has been Director of the Medieval and Early Modern Studies Institute.
Professor Jeffrey Jerome Cohen has many achievements, moreover, he has repeatedly received scientific awards. The most important are the Distinguished Scholar Award presented to him in 2012 by the International Association for the Fantastic in the Arts. The Professor was invited by many universities to cooperate as part of the projects: Morrow Scholar in Residence at the University of Victoria in 2014; Research Scholar in Residence at the University of Auckland in 2015. In addition, in 2015, he also worked as a lecturer at the Emory University. Professor Cohen is a member of the John Simon Guggenheim Foundation, a founder and a member of the MLA Forum on Ecocriticism and Envinromental Humanities committee and Dean for education at the Columbian College of Arts and Sciences since 2014.
