This year, Poznań was visited by 15 trainees from all over the world, including persons from e.g. India, Spain, Kazakhstan, Romania, Portugal, Japan, Serbia and Turkey, who had their placements in companies in Poznań and at our university. Coordinators of the project (Aleksandra Gęsicka, Paula Janicka and Sylwia Marcinkowska), together with the members of IAESTE Local Committee, for over 5 months were taking care of trainees and organising additional attractions.
Geographical location of Poland, as well one of the city of Poznań, enabled trainees to participate in many Polish and foreign weekends organised by particular local committees. In Poznań, the event called "Poznań TEY! Weekend" was organised, which was participated by 70 people from Poland and abroad. Many attractions were prepared for the participants, e.g. tram-party, city game and IAESTE Dance - special dance performed in front of Poznań Town Hall, which attracted attention and admiration of a number of Wielkopolska Province citizens.
Summer Reception is not only about traineeships, but also about developing language skills. It is a perfect opportunity to meet interesting people from all over the world and get to know various cultures. Therefore, we are yet again starting the PPP period (Process of Acquiring Traineeships), which will allow us to prepare well for 2015 Summer Reception, and at the same time, meet Your expectations!
Interview with Diego Gutiérrez, a student from Spain, who had his traineeship at the Industrial Institute of Agricultural Engineering in Poznań.
Did you enjoy staying in Poznań?
- Yes, although I had small language issues, because not everyone speaks English. It was sometimes difficult to communicate e.g. in a shop or students' hall of residence.
Did you learn Polish?
- Not really. I learned only basic expressions such as "good morning" or "thank you".
Would you recommend traineeship in a Polish company?
- The traineeship in Poland has been the best I have had until now. I was surprised by how well everything had been organised by IAESTE members - from application forms and documents to parties.
Are there any differences between working in Spain and in Poland?
- Well, definitely, working hours are different. In Spain lunch break lasts 2 hours, and here only 15 minutes. However, as for now I do not see any other differences.
