Wim Becu is an eminent expert in historical trombone studies and a dedicated mentor and with many prominent ensembles and educational institutions. As the founder and artistic director of the Oltremontano ensemble, he regularly collaborates with such renowned early music ensembles as Capella Cracoviensis, the Huelgas Ensemble, Concerto Palatino, Hespèrion XX, Les Sacqueboutiers de Toulouse, l'Orchestre des Champs-Elysées, Capilla Flamenca, the Pluto Ensemble and Psallentes.
He complements his performing activity with teaching historical trombone at the Royal Conservatory in Den Haag (Koninklijk Conservatorium Den Haag) and at the Bremen Art College (Hochschule für Künste), and at various academies in Antwerp and Brussels. His ensemble Oltremontano has also been artist in residence at the Royal Museum of Fine Arts Antwerp (KMSKA). Wim Becu has extensive experience in giving master classes and lectures, both at early music summer schools and in collaboration with international academies and ensembles. His educational programmes include both practical tuition in playing the historical trombone and lectures on the historical context, performance playing styles and the specific characteristics of the instruments used in early music.
