The Adam Mickiewicz University team, composed of Dawid Bartkowiak and Stanisław Stefaniak, won in the English as a Foreign Language category. In the finals, the Poznan team beat the universities from Seoul, Moscow and Jakarta. Additionally, Dawid Bartkowiak won the title of the Grand Final Best Speaker - the best speaker of the finals.
In the category for English language universities, the team from the University of Sydney turned out to be the best, defeating groups from Oxford and Harvard.
Jacek Jaśkowiak, the president of Poznan, congratulated the winners posting on his Facebook profile that the title of the final debate: " Progressive politicians in conservative societies should pander to bigots, racists, hardline conservatives and others with regressive views in attempting to win elections", was interesting for him in the context of the last results of local administration elections in Poland.
On the other hand, young debate masters hope that this form of exchange of views will help, as an educational tool, to form citizens interested in the world and, at the same time, critical - also towards the authority, regardless of its political and ideological sources and bases.
