Timothy Collins, Director or European Operations for Amazon, said: "We are very excited to be investing here. This day signifies the beginning of a long relationship between us and the community of Tarnowo Podgorne and Wielkopolska region.  We are greatly appreciative of all the support we've received for the community to make this multi-hundred million Euro investment become reality. The new facilities in Poland will play an integral part in serving our customers all over Europe, and we couldn´t be happier and more pleased with our decision to place them here".

Robert Dobrzycki, Managing Partner Panattoni Europe, comments on the development of the distribution centre: "Poznań and its surrounding area constitute a dynamically growing market with a strong standing of the country's third location in terms of the existing warehouse space. I am very proud that as a developer we can contribute to the continued growth of this region", adding: "Apart from the facility in Poznań, we are developing a project for Amazon in Bielany near Wrocław. Both investments combined it is an exceptional and unprecedented feat for a variety of reasons. It is not only the largest warehousing and logistics transaction for Panattoni Europe to date, but also a record-breaking one in Central and Eastern Europe. The cost of each of the facilities amounts to approximately EUR 65 M and, importantly - they will be built by Polish subcontractors".

Execution of the investment began at the end of last year and will continue till the middle of August 2014, when the warehouse shall be put into service. 2000 employees shall find permanent employment here, among them warehouse employees, as also persons in managerial and specialist positions: accountants, logisticians, IT specialists, etc.  In the peak season, mainly before Christmas, there will be a demand for additional temporary employees.

The management of Amazon emphasises how important the work culture in the company is, creating an appropriate work environment for the employees, a good relation with them. The basis of management is such a development of the goods rotation process in the centre that work is optimally organised, so as to facilitate the task to employees. Representatives of the regional authorities could see this for themselves during a visit in one of the logistics centres of Amazon in Germany. The above logistics centre, located near Munich, that is, similarly as in the case of Poznań, in a region with the lowest unemployment rate in the country, comes under employers offering a relatively high salary. Amazon gives all employees the opportunity to develop, promote within the company, from the lowest position to executive positions. Being an employee of the company you can also procure for work in other locations in countries where Amazon is present.
