Padua is located at the eastern end of the Po Valley about 10 km north of the Euganean Hills and about 20 km west of the Venetian Lagoon. The municipal area is over 92 km ², is entirely flat and crossed by several rivers, which gave the centuries the shape and protection to the city. The city was founded and developed between the Brenta and Bacchiglione. It has 211,555 inhabitants.

Padua is a tertiary/industrial city and an important Logistics hub.

The industrial area of Padua was created in 1946 in the eastern part of the city, and since then has continuously expanded and differentiated. This is one of the largest industrial zones of Europe, with an area of 10,5 km². Within it there are more than 1.300 companies, with a significant diversification of production and industry, and there are more than 50.000 people from all over the Veneto Region commuting for working reasons.

Inside the Industrial Area there is the largest Multimodal Freight Hub in Italy and one of the most important in Europe. Almost all goods coming from or sent to the rest of Europe pass to/from Padua.

In one of the oldest university in Europe - University of Padua studies about 62,000 students.
