YALE - Young Children as Active LEarners Exploring the/ir World

Improving quality of pre-school education by developing key competences of pre-school children through implementing methods of active learning

Description of the project:

YALE is an international project between Poznań and Berlin, established in the framework of "Oder-Partnership", aimed to improve the quality of pre-school education.

The idea of the project is to popularise the implementation of active learning methods based on educational projects with young children. In result the children become "active learners", acquiring broader skills and competencies important for being successful in life.

Main goals of the partnership:

Exchanging experiences, good practices and policies between pre-school staff on the one hand and policy makers on the other, will contribute to set the framework for effective implementation of the project approach in the kindergarten.

Providing opportunities for professional development through study-visits, exchange of experiences and trainings using the project approach will enable the pre-school teachers to develop and implement educational projects together with children.

The bi-national team of experts (policy makers, pre-school staff, trainers) will develop child-cantered innovative methods and document best practice examples of the project approach.

The results will be documented and published in a best-practice guide (German-Polish-English) that will be distributed at local, regional, national and European level and will serve as orientation for policy makers as well as in-service training material for other pre-school teachers and kindergarten.
