Open lecture: "Chemistry and Evolution in RNA"
Professor Eric Westhof was born in Belgium and has been working at the University of Strasbourg in France since 1981. In 1988 he became a professor in the field of Structural Biochemistry. Since 2009, he has been the Vice-President (an equivalent of the Vice-Rector) for research and doctoral studies at the University of Strasbourg. Professor Eric Westhof is a world-famous authority on the structural biology of nucleic acids. He is the originator and founder of the international RNA-Puzzles initiative, which brings together scientists involved in computational modelling and quality assessment of RNA spatial structures. He has published 420 papers in many prestigious scientific journals (e.g. Nature, Cell, Nucleic Acids Research, RNA Journal), which received over 28,000 citations,
