In his academic work, the Professor explores key social areas. The phenomenon of justice (including issues such as revenge and the application of punishment), as well as individual differences in "justice sensitivity," moral reasoning, and moral behaviours. He is also involved in research related to the topics of contemporary trends in science and the ways scientific knowledge is communicated (including research replicability). In these areas, the Professor has published approximately 140 peer-reviewed journal articles and around 10 academic books, including textbooks and monographs (in the fields of social psychology, the psychology of justice, emotions, and aggressive behaviours, as well as statistics and research methodology). He has also authored more than 60 popular science publications (including articles, books, and book chapters aimed at making scientific knowledge accessible to a broader audience).

The Professor's academic works widely cited in the scientific community (According to Google Scholar: 11,958 citations of his publications and his H-index is: 55).

Since 2018, the Professor has been the Head of the Department of Social Psychology at the Faculty of Psychology and Educational Sciences at Ludwig and Maximilian University of Munich (LMU Munich) and, among others:

- editor-in-chief of a prestigious academic journal in the field of psychology, Social Psychology, as well as a consulting or associate editor for other respected journals, such as Social Justice Research and Social Psychology Bulletin. He is also an active member of the editorial boards of several other prestigious academic journals, such as the European Journal of Social Psychology.

- since 2018, he has also served as the series editor of Perspectives on Justice and Morality, published by the International Society for Justice Research.

- member of the Senate and Grants Committee on Research Training Groups, Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (2020-2025) Selection Committee of the Alexander von Humboldt Professorship (2022-2027), "Open Science" Committee (president between 2018-2022), and "Teaching and Education" Committee (German Psychological Society, DGPs), member of the editorial board at the Institute for Replication (I4R), Behavioral Science (since 2024). Coordinator of the DFG Priority Program META-REP (SPP 2317).
