UAM Adam Mickiewicz University among the best universities around the globe - Shanghai ranking has been published

As few as 8 Polish universities have been distinguished in the prestigious group of thousand facilities listed in the Academic Ranking of World Universities, also known as the Shanghai Ranking. One of the eight is Adam Mickiewicz University in Poznań.

The top of the rank of the world's best universities is represented by: Harvard University, Stanford University, and Cambridge University.

As far as Polish universities are concerned, the highest ranked is the University of Warsaw (places 301-400), followed by the Jagiellonian University (places 401-500). Lower places in the rank are taken by: AGH University of Science and Technology in Kraków (places 701-800), Adam Mickiewicz University in Poznań, the Gdańsk University of Technology, and the Warsaw University of Technology (places 801-900), as well as the Medical University of Warsaw and the Medical University of Silesia (places 901-1000).

There are as many as over 20,000 universities in the world that conduct scientific and research activities. When it comes to the highest places in the Shanghai Ranking, those universities whose graduates are Nobel Prize or Fields Medal awardees and those with a high number of citations are rated the highest. Thus, being among the first thousand universities in this ranking means taking place in the group of 4% of the best universities in the world.
