Relaxation in the city? Of course! There are four lakes within the city limits of Poznań, which provide relaxation and recreation. They are: Kierskie, Maltańskie, Rusałka and Strzeszyńskie.
Kierskie Lake is a centre for water sports as well as a favourite spot for sailors and anglers. Kiekrz also attracts tourists with its beautiful beach and a seasonal swimming area. Maltańskie Lake is another place for recreation in Poznań. It hosts the most important kayak and rowing regattas. It is located near the New Zoo and the Termy Maltańskie aqua park. During the summer, its beautiful scenery plays host to performances of the international theatre festival, "Maltafestival Poznań". On hot days, it is possible to take a swim in Strzeszyńskie Lake and Rusałka Lake which played the role of the great Dnieper in the screening of the Polish national epic "With Fire and Sword" by Henryk Sienkiewicz.
