The City of Poznan has 14 partnership agreements with foreign cities. Major partners are located in Europe - these are: Hanover (Germany), Rennes (France) and Nottinghamshire (Great Britain). Poznań has also contacts with Shenzhen in China and Toledo in the USA, located far from Poland.

Partnerships between cities and regions are favourable for the development of local governments, help entrepreneurs in establishing direct cooperation in many areas, as well as serve school children, students, sportsmen and artists. For the development of partnership Poznan was awarded by the Council of Europe with the European Flag of Honour.
